Everyone's experience with therapy is different, but research consistently demonstrates that two factors have the greatest influence on therapeutic success: patient contributions (i.e., how hard a client works in therapy) and the therapist-client relationship. Children and teenagers are comfortable with the youthful, compassionate nature of our team, which allows for easy rapport building. Once rapport is fostered, the hard but rewarding work of challenging unhelpful patterns can begin. For younger children, we collaborate closely with parents in order to see maximum results. For teenagers, we foster greater independence with a more individualized therapy approach. Of course, growth does not stop at age 18, and we also see young adults and adults in our practice as they continue to navigate a changing world.
Areas of therapeutic expertise include, but are not limited to:
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and other related disorders
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
School stress
Social anxiety, navigating relationship "drama", and other social and communication issues
Excessive temper tantrums and challenges communicating emotions
LGBTQ+ related issues

Psychological testing services are also offered at our practice. In-depth neuropsychological, psychoeducational, and emotional testing helps parents and children understand their cognitive strengths and weaknesses and provide diagnostic clarification. Diagnoses that can be provided through psychological testing include but are not limited to: learning disabilities, Attention Defecit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and emotional disorders. Testing is accompanied by extensive, targeted recommendations which are used to create a plan for moving forward. If desired, we can also attend CSE meetings in order to advocate for your child.
